Remedial Massage South Yarra
Remedial massage is a hands-on therapy that focuses on muscles, to relieve tension, reduce stress and limit discomfort. It is the clinical application of massage; being that we identify and treat muscle complaints.
At your first appointment, we will firstly discuss your complaint or concern. An assessment will be performed to identify which muscles are problematic. We will then focus remedial massage to these targeted areas to achieve clinical improvements.
There is a difference between a remedial massage and a relaxation massage. You can expect pressure to be applied to targeted areas, rather than a generalised body rub. The pressure will be firm, but not excruciating, so you should feel comfortable throughout the treatment.
What you can expect from a remedial massage is deep firm pressure or gentle shallow pressure to achieve muscle relaxation and fix the ‘knots’. We know that muscles respond to pressure, and this is the basis of remedial massage therapy. The promotion of blood flow, joint mobilisation, a reduction in the tone of tight muscles and promotion of healing are all expected following a remedial massage.
Whether you are looking for injury management or injury prevention, remedial massage can help. It is also a great choice for sports. Whether you are a weekend worrier and wanting to prevent injury. Or an elite athlete looking for that edge.
